Tasty is the food inspiration platform of Buzzfeed. With over 98 million followers on Facebook and around 20 million app downloads, they answer the big question that families all over the US are asking themselves every day – what’s for dinner? Moving from a traditional inspiration to the cooking tool, Tasty wanted to enrich the user journey by adding the important step that connects inspiration with
cooking – shopping.
With expertise in running the Northfork SaaS platform for grocery retailers and the consumer site gastrofy.se, similar to Tasty, Northfork was able to enhance the Tasty app with shopping capabilities.
Leveraging the existing grocery shopping list feature, Northfork connected the Tasty recipe database to Walmart Grocery Pickup.
This new feature allows customers to conveniently purchase recipe ingredients from Walmart stores nationwide for pickup or delivery.
Through the advanced Smart Cart feature by Northfork, recipes are seamlessly translated into full shopping carts, accommodating any portion size, optimizing product combinations for minimal waste, organic options, or the lowest price. It also provides product recommendations based on past purchases.
Once the cart is complete, it is handed over to Walmart for checkout.
The Tasty recipe shopping experience was launched in August 2019.
